Table of contents

This time, we’re sharing how to create a unique table decoration using clay plaster, which we believe will become a standout feature in your home!

/ YOU’LL NEED /

Svencelė clay plaster: We mixed the brown-colored base with 1_B pigment to achieve a rich green color.

Decorating tools:We used a Marmorino Tools trowel and a Storch DuraStar 12 roller for the decoration.

MR. CLAY Varnish No. 1: To enhance the durability of the coffee table’s surface, we applied varnish to the dried-out decor.

Where did we start?

Our decorated table is made of polystyrene, so the first step was preparing it. To ensure the surface wasn’t soft, the table was reinforced and further strengthened by adding corners. This is a crucial step that ensures a sturdy and durable base.

Surface Preparation

We primed the hardened surface—this ensures better adhesion with the clay plaster. This step is especially important if you want the decoration to hold up reliably and last a long time.

Decorating process

Then comes the most creative part—decorating. In this case, we used a coarser-textured “Svencelė” clay plaster mix together with 1_B pigment.

We applied the plaster with a trowel;

We smoothed the surface with a roller;

Finally, we covered everything with plastic wrap to achieve the smoothest and most uniform surface possible;

The next day, we removed the plastic wrap and let the table dry completely.

Varnishing

Once the surface is completely dry, we recommend varnishing the table twice with MR. CLAY Varnish No. 1. The varnish protects the surface, enhances its durability, and helps maintain its aesthetic appearance for a long time.

Where else can you use this?

Although we decorated a display table this time, you can just as easily decorate a coffee table or other various polystyrene figures, as well as the walls of your home.
