“When creating the Mr. Clay brand, my heart always felt that clay plaster should be accessible and meant for everyone.”

Clay plaster is the most fascinating and beautiful project I started developing back in 2016 in the old Alytus ceramics brick factory. As you’ve probably already guessed, we produce our clay plaster right here in Lithuania! Those who have been following us from the very beginning know quite a lot about the adventures and challenges we faced at the start. And for those who are curious how the Mr. Clay brand was born, I invite you to read and watch the articles and videos published in the media where I share at least a small part of my business journey.

Over the past decade, not only has the market changed, but so has my own understanding of clay plaster, wall finishes and future trends. Today I believe in clay plaster even more than I did ten years ago, so I can confidently say that clay plaster is suitable for any interior, any project and any person.

  • Clay plaster is free from hazardous chemicals, mineral-based and fully vapour-permeable, which makes it perfect for interior finishing in straw bale, earthen and other natural buildings.
  • Even if you live in a conventional building, by choosing clay plaster you can be sure that the concentration of VOCs (volatile organic compounds) in your home will not increase.
  • Clay plaster is ideal for those looking for a more affordable, simpler and faster wall finishing solution, especially if you plan to do the work yourself.
  • Clay plaster allows you to create unique and very beautiful interiors.
  • Clay plaster is also a great choice for those who need durable wall surfaces – you simply need to apply a varnish on top, just like with any other decorative plaster. Some might ask: “Why use a natural material if you’re going to varnish over it anyway?” We have an answer for you. First of all, the person applying the finish is safe when working with clay plaster – and that is incredibly important. Secondly, we have chosen a varnish that is safe to use. So the whole system may no longer be completely natural, but it is safe both for the craftsperson and for the people using the space.

To this day, countless private homes and commercial spaces in Lithuania have been finished with clay plaster. You can see our products in projects such as the Klaipėda State Musical Theatre, St. Joseph’s Church in Vilnius, cafés “Kavalierius”, “Taste Map”, “Ali šokoladinė”, and the restaurants “Paslėpti receptai”, “Grill London”, “Chačapuri”, “La capital”, “Figa” and others.

Our products are loved not only in Lithuania but also in other countries. We work both with individual customers and with retail partners in the Baltic States, the Netherlands, Poland, Norway, Greece, England and even South Korea. We also manufacture products for foreign partners under their own brands.

For many years now, we have also been running wall decoration workshops where both professionals and complete beginners can get to know all the nuances of working with clay plaster.

Around the world, clay plaster is often presented as a niche or luxury product. However, when creating the Mr. Clay brand, my heart always felt that clay plaster should be accessible and meant for everyone. My team and I will keep working to make sure it stays that way – for everyone!
Best wishes,
Raimonda, founder of the Mr. Clay brand.
