CONRÈ Casting Mix "Dunes" is for anyone who wants to cast their own concrete interior pieces: trays for jewellery and small items, candle holders, decorative bowls. Cast pieces are strong, heavy, light sandy in tone with a natural mineral texture.
Because the colour is already in the mix, you can scoop it by eye and mix with water – no need to weigh pigments separately. Just keep the water ratio (290–330 g of water per 1 kg). If you want a different shade, you can tint it further with pigments and experiment.
How many pieces will you get?
Examples – pieces we cast ourselves and how many you get from one bag.
Wavy tray (~440 g) |
Ribbed bowl (~460 g) |
Candle holder (~300 g) |
Thick-walled bowl (~1.3 kg) |
The exact yield will depend on the moulds you use.
How to use
- Add 290–330 g (ml) of water per 1 kg of mix. Start with less and add more if needed.
- Mix thoroughly with a whisk or mixer until smooth.
- Pour into moulds within 30 min. Tap the mould gently to release air bubbles.
- Demould no earlier than after 12 h (depends on temperature and water amount).
- Let the piece dry for a couple of hours, then gently smooth the edges with fine sandpaper. It keeps curing for several days.
- (Optional) Leave uncoated and wipe with a soft cloth, or coat with varnish or decorative beeswax – test on a sample first.
Important
- Cast pieces are interior details for dry use – not suitable for prolonged contact with water.
- Thin pieces may break if dropped. The mix is intended for small-format pieces – for thin, larger-format pieces we recommend additional reinforcement.
- Contains cement and is alkaline – irritating to skin and eyes when wet. When mixing, wear a respirator, safety goggles and gloves. Keep out of reach of children.
- Store in a dry place in a closed bag.
Composition
A blend of cement, sand, mineral pigments and technological additives.
